We Stand United to Foil the Zionist-Crusader Plot Aimed at Tearing Iraq Apart

 We, the undersigned, a group of writers, journalists, and intellectuals; doctors and engineers; workers and peasants; professors and military personnel; from different regions of Iraq, and from different sects and religions in Iraq; direct this appeal to our people throughout Iraq, as well as to all religious and ethnic factions. Participate with us in a cry of absolute disapproval, condemnation, and rejection to the hostile and abusive decision adopted by the American Senate to divide Iraq into three small countries. [A divided Iraq] would be but a chess game in the framework of the international system—its weakness and incapacity would encourage all forms of foreign intervention. The personality and humanity of the Iraqi, which contributed throughout history in building and laying the foundations of world civilization, would be transformed. His contributions in Ur and Warka, Babel and Nineveh, witness that he was lord of the earth—a source of goodness, and a giver of knowledge for thousands of years before people had ever heard the name of a nation of cowboys, who herd cows which flee from their countries in search of treasure, or to escape legal proceedings or cases of social rejection.

The federalism project is nothing but a well-crafted conspiracy to destroy our people and country by dividing it into small rival states with the goal of exhausting its forces, and burning out the Iraqi nation which, with its latent potential for strength, would otherwise have transformed into a great and powerful nation. It would have been able to threaten the interests and ambitions of the colonial West and its creation—the Hebrew nation in Palestine—whose formation was the first step to block the growth and development of Arab nations, and deplete their great strengths and capabilities, which were sufficient to enrich all the inhabitants of the Arab nation, without need for any connection or subordination to the West.

It was clear in the beginning from the various changing arguments and justifications which were presented by the right-wing Zionist administration, as well as from the administration’s path to war and its barbarous execution on our Iraq. All the foundations and buildings of the Iraqi nation were destroyed with malice and hatred. There is no true motive behind the invasion of Iraq except to carry out Zionist plans known as the “Sharon-Eiten” project, aimed at dividing the large Arab nations, including Iraq, into small competing countries, to stop them in their march toward progress, independence, and strength, in order to preserve the security and survival of the Hebrew country in Palestine. Oil is just a hidden secondary factor behind this destructive war, which has reaped more than a million martyrs, and two million detainees, and more than four million refugees. This country’s goods have been looted, squandered, and smuggled out. The Iraqi nation has exhausted its debts, which are held by foreigners and people with disabilities [referring to Arab rulers—see last paragraph]. The money was smuggled out before even one dinar could be allocated for repairing the electrical power, or providing potable water, or rebuilding a hospital or school.

The decision of the American Senate has come to clearly embody the true goals of the war on Iraq. The masks worn by the ‘cowboy nation’ in an attempt to conceal its true goals have fallen off. The truth has been revealed regarding its empty calls for freedom, and for ending the dictatorship and the weapons of mass destruction, which the Bush administration’s Secretary of State employed with all the insolence and arrogance of a cowboy, deprived of all morals and values except his own ambitions and barbaric desires. But the truth is that he threatens both the world and American security with his evidence, which has been proven false. He even confessed his lie to the international community. Even regarding terrorism—history has shown that not a single Iraqi has participated in any of these so-called terrorist acts. Rather the Iraqi has been known for his commitment to values and morals, and for rushing to save the oppressed, and rejecting oppression and tyranny.

The Iraqi man, owner of gallantry and the Fatherland, and the historically strong pride that he is the source of learning for the known world. He invented the first laws and constitutions in history—he does not need counsel from cowboys or their decisions which reflect a reckless and brazen attitude toward all the laws of international legitimacy, which the Bush administration claims it is intending to defend and protect. The decision of the cowboys in the Senate represents a violation of all those international laws.

American political scientists know that national interest is a broad concept, the essence of which is: “Guarding the unity and safety of the lands of the given country, as well as its independence, the sovereignty of its people over their lands, and their security and well-being.” We do not hesitate to accuse everyone who promotes the federalist project of committing treason toward Iraq and its people. Those sectarians and racists who promote sectarian and racist calls, have no love for their sect or ethnicity, but are exploiting people’s feelings in order to realize their personal ambitions, and to satisfy their sick tendencies. They gain satisfaction from their Zionist and cowboy masters. As the experience of the last four years has revealed, their main concern is looting the people’s wealth and smuggling it abroad, so they can be ready to flee from the people’s vengeance when their masters abandon them.

Throughout history the Land of the Two Rivers has been geographically, politically, and culturally united. It has risen to the ranks of the major powers, and contributed to the enrichment of worldwide civilization, and has withered and fallen, and become subject to foreign interventions. Its civilization has been set back—torn apart and divided. The strength of nations is calculated by their size, number of inhabitants, and its visible and potential goods. In none of these proposed nations are the elements of true states which can meet the demands of their inhabitants, or that can provide the necessary elements to defend themselves and protect their people.

Sons of Nasiriyah, Samawa, Halla, Kufa, Samra’, Baghdad, and Mosul—sons of Iraq, from the north to the south:

Sons of this great Iraqi man who dazzled the world with his mind, intelligence, and culture—be as you and your ancestors were, masters of your land, your fate, and your future. All arise and reject the attack of the Zionist hatred, and the cowboy envy, and their servants and local agents.

Be masters of your fate, rise to the level of your ancestors, builders of some of the wonders of the world in Ur, Babylon, and Nineveh—those who spread the values of civilization and humanity from the ancient capitals in Kufa, Baghdad, and Samra’.

You and your ancestors created the Shi’a and Sunni, and the movements of the Arja’, I’itizal, and the Kharijites, and even the Qarmat. This is nothing new for you or for your fathers in Kufa, Baghdad, and Basra. This is nothing but evidence of the capacity of your senses, and the size of the mind which your ancestors enjoyed. Don’t permit your enemies to make you enemies of your own flesh, and employ you in unjustified battles to deplete your forces and assault your residences in vandalism and in-fighting, so that they may experience the euphoria of victory over you.

Are you truly so small, ignorant, and weak that cowboys, many of whom do not even know their own fathers or origins, must decide your fate and the shape of your country?

Rise and stand up to throw out the foreigner, those who flee from their own countries in search of wealth, or to escape societal ostracism. Throw out their local agents, the mentally ill recipients of aid provided by European nations for the handicapped and mentally ill. Are the allegations of madness not a type of madness in itself? Is it not madness also for us to leave our fate as a game in the hands of these lunatics with abnormal and sick tendencies?
