Rick Amato sent this out to his supporters earlier today with the title "Radical Islamic Professor Hired at Claremont McKenna".
The title of the post is "College Hires Radical Islamic Professor" which isn't technically true. Frangieh says that he supports "some of the Islamist movements" in that May 2006 interview. That would mean he is an "Islamist", not "Islamic." Frangieh, I am told, is a proclaimed Christian, but, of course, that means not much at all. Sirhan Sirhan, who murdered RFK with a knife, for example, was a fundamentalist Arab and not a fundamentalist Muslim Arab. Of course I reject the idea that somehow his views don't hold currency because he's a Christian. By implication, it means that if a Muslim were to hold these views, he never would have been hired. But, hey, if he's a Christian, somehow he's kosher. That strikes me as pretty discriminatory. And dare I say it, "Islamophobic"? I wonder then why that slur keeps being repeated by administrators to concerned alumni?
As we reported last Friday in our Amato For Liberty newsletter Claremont McKenna College in Los Angeles Couny has hired a supporter of Hamas, Hezbollah and suicide bombing to head its’ Middle East Studies program.
The professors [sic] name is Bassam Frangieh . The CMC president who hired him is Pamela Gann.
Pamela Gann, Frangieh and the PR department at CMC have declined any and all of our interview requests. The school is not talking to anyone in the media or offering explanation to their student body, alumni and administration.
Our position is that CMC should be teaching about Bassam Frangieh and his ideology as part of their Middle East studies program but they should not be employing him to do it.

What To Say
Be direct in making your point that American colleges and universities should not employ professors who are known supporters of terrorism. Be specific with names (Claremont McKenna College, Professor Bassam Frangieh) and supporting facts (his interview with an Arabic speaking newspaper showing his support of Hamas and Hezbollah).CJ's note. (Update as of 5 PM: I asked Rick Amato to make the correction and he did. The post now reads, "College Hires Radical Islamic Supporting Professor." [Emphasis mine])
