No Boyz Allowed: Sarah Palin Endorses Carly Fiorina

Sarah should have sat this one out.

I've got to say that I'm more than a little bit disappointed that Sarah Palin would endorse Carly Fiorina over the proven conservative in the race, our very own, Chuck DeVore. DeVore could use her support and though I am still voting for DeVore in the primary, it's pretty sad to see that Palin would put her kingmaker ability over considering what's best for the people of California. Alas, that's politics.

But as Professor Pitney notes, that endorsement of Fiorina has it's own, well, errr... factual... problems surrounding Palin's endorsement.

Apparently, according to half-term governor, Palin, Fiorina's father is a "school teacher dad." (As someone whose father actually is a school teacher dad, I take umbrage!)

So what does Mr. Sneed actually do? Why, he's a judge and a law prof who got his daughter into Stanford and gave a very good ruling to HP. Seventeen days later, she became HP's CEO and got a huge compensation package.

Commencement Speaker Pandamonium

  • A City Journal run down of a successful anti-crime initiative set up by Pitzer's commencement speaker, Mayor Cory Booker. March was the first homicide free month in Newark in forty four years. That's not a bad record for my favorite Democrat.
  • Pomona's speaker, Janet Napolitano, loves to open mouth, insert foot on terrorism -- or as she would call it man-caused disasters -- saying that right-wingers like me are dangerous and ignoring Islamist violent. She needs to go -- but not because she's hostile to illegal immigrants, as the Pomona protestors would have you believe, but because she's far too accommodating to them. Take a gander at this Wall Street Journal piece about how out of touch she has been regarding illegal immigrants in Arizona. She says illegal immigration is down in Arizona, but that's more likely a product of the economy, rather than enforcement on her part. For those who attack me for being a faux libertarian, I remind you that I'm a proponent of libertarianism in one country.
  • CMC's (seriously where else's?) speaker is Henry Kravis CMC '67. For those keeping track, I long ago predicted that the college would continue the practice of asking alums to give speeches for the simple reason that it costs less. Anywho, Mr. Kravis is learning that his Democratic friends in the Senate are not very keen on the idea of low-taxes for "carried interest" deals.
