Dean of Students Cancels Fun in the Fountain

Allow me to be the first to say this openly, but I believe Dean Mary Spellman's days are numbered if she's going to keep killing great traditions like this one.

She killed a lot of traditions at Sarah Lawrence. Are we at all surprised that she would do the same thing here? I'm not. In fact, and this is purely speculation, I think it may be the reason she was brought here in the first place.

Wait, I thought you liked Mary Spellman because she was 'on our side' and was going to crack down on drinking! And aren't these 'great traditions' in your whacky worldview a waste of student money? Shouldn't students not have ascmc subsidized tncs, madrigals, or thesis celebrations?

I'm fine with her cracking down on under aged drinking and the disgusting waste that goes on at TNC.

I'm not fine with her canceling a tradition that is for adults over the age of twenty-one.

Most sensible thing I've heard all evening. She has no right to impose her will on others. TNC, sure--there was massive wastes of money that we never even knew how much damage was done at a TNC.

Thesis celebrations was a tradition, and the half-hearted email sent out by Huang, bless him, seemed more like damage control after the uproar.

The reasons seemed much more trivial than those at CMC. Especially with the construction by those classes, etc, being much louder than the fountain party ever was.
