If you have taste, avoid diet anything at all costs.
My preferred brand of energy drink is Rockstar, but I couldn't find any when I visited Pomona's Coop Store earlier yesterday, looking to get rocked. Rockstar gives me the kind of jolt I need to power through during finals and it may even stop my heart with whatever else it has in there.
Of course, there's the added bonus of when my parents receive the cause of death, that I went out on Rockstar. Something tells me that just doesn't have the ring of "Red Bull," which I ended up purchasing instead. Despite its promises to give you wings, I often feel very grounded and the taste of Red Bull is rather disgusting, even when you mix it with something else.
I noticed, though, over on the message board that I'm not alone. Apparently some other soul out there also wants some Rockstar, only to be told that the reason the Coop does not carry Rockstar is because it is against homosexual rights. (The writer used the phrase, "equal rights," a bastardization of the language which I am against for the simple reason that rights, by their definition, are accessible to all people, at all times, irrespective of their station.)
This charge of being against homosexuals isn't accurate at all, and reflects a sins of the father being visited upon the son kind of boycott justice. (The founder of Rockstar's father is a controversial radio host.)
In fact, if that weren't enough, Rockstar recently donated $100,000 to gay groups and the company since its founding, has given the same benefits to homosexual couples as it has to heterosexual ones. I'm hoping this is just an oversight: Why would the Coop continue to discriminate against a company that is sympathetic to homosexual causes? Anything else would be well, discriminatory.
It's past time for the Coop to rethink its decision to ban Rockstar. Now that would really rock and I can continue to, "study like a Rockstar."

hi, um, Coop Store manager here. We were made aware of the political issues involved in RockStar executives' beliefs by some concerned employees. However, you should also know that our vendor dropped RockStar before we did. The choice to stop carrying RockStar as quickly as we did was due to the fact that our vendor was no longer carrying it, simple as that. But thanks for checking with us before you name us.
Hi, former Coop Store manager here, seconding the current manager above. Two of us have now stepped up to say that your facts are blatantly wrong. Way to fact-check with Wikipedia instead of actual people with actual answers. Journalism fail.
Journalism 101: Retraction.
Um...
1) I did talk with a student who worked at the Coop who told me to read what was said on the message board, which I did.
2) If the first thing is the case, it's incumbent upon you to let your clerks know that when someone asks.

2) Not that I expect this to be enough for you, but if we told our clerks the answer to every single question that every customer ever asked, we wouldn't need managers. We don't tell our clerks when our vendors decide to drop a product because, quite honestly, they don't need to know. When Coca-Cola decides to stop carrying RockStar, that is not something that affects a clerk's ability to do his or her job, so we do not make them aware of that. Our sincerest apologies, and we will be sure to send our clerks detailed emails letting them know every little change in our vendors' policies in the future. As far as that message board goes, see above blog post.
3) If you don't know what the deal is, then kindly keep us off your blog. Thank you.
tastes like shit
TASTES LIKE SHIT
The clerk I took to be a manager. She had a badge that said as much on her shirt. Thanks,
Way to keep it classy, by the way, mentioning my weight. (Expect a response later this evening.)
Can you copy the email to this blog, manager?
Would like to see either a retraction or excuse for not doing it.
I don't follow... I spoke with the young lady behind the counter, not via email.
