Sympathy for the Devil: Why Rush Limbaugh Should Sue

In The Wall Street Journal, I read Rush Limbaugh's description of what happened part in his bid to buy the St. Louis Rams. Above, you can watch Juan Williams discuss the politicization of the NFL and how Obama allies are involved, if you are less inclined to read about it.

Sadly, Rush lost his minority-stake bid to buy the football team that he's long loved. We're now starting to learn why. Effectively, some lefty made up some quotations that Rush and put it on Wikipedia. In turn, this got repeated by the usual race hustlers and real racists and MSNBC (oh wait, isn't that the same thing?)

I must say, I empathize, and hope Rush tracks down and exposes everyone who was involved.

Why do empathize so much?

A common "attack" on me on campus is that I am trying to become a CMC version of Rush Limbaugh, just a slightly less pudgy version. It is becoming something of a standard attack on the left's political opponents to mention their weight. Witness the disgusting attacks on Chris Christie's weight that Democrat John Corzine is launching. Never you mind, of course, that I am neither fat, nor pudgy, but perfectly on weight.

I typically dismiss these childish attacks on me as what they are -- the cudgel of lesser minds unwilling, but most often unable, to defend their arguments in a public area. Instead, they genuflect on the altar of political correctness, as they try to prepare me and my reputation as a sacrifice.

These critics attack me so because they think that might somehow diminish my writing and thinking, which thus far, they have proven unable to do. When they don't misconstrue what I've said, they simply make up charges, like how I allegedly outed a gay student on campus (I didn't) or that I'm a racist, Islamophob, sexist, etc. It would a lie to say some of the more outlandish things said about me don't trouble me, but it comes with the territory of advancing your opinion.

Have at it, Rush. Here's to hoping you make 'em pay.

Williams can think what he wants. For so many years Limbaugh has spent his time on the radio mis-labeling or mis-characterizing others . Finally he had his judgment day.

I wonder, if what Limbaugh says is so objectionable, why do people have to go to such extent to make up quotes supposedly attributable to him?

Please read this article on the Limbaugh NFL fiasco. You don't have the full backstory.

Well he's always going on about how we should return to the ways of the pioneers, so it's no surprise that he wants to "own" a collection of black men -- I think that's what he's been pushing for for a while.

And sue?

Sure, this is America!

Sue everything! Get as much money as you can! Money is the most important thing of all, right?

The ironic thing is that people like Rush are the ones who are ultimately enslaved. It's just a shame that there's not much we can do to reach out to them, their egos would never allow them to be wrong -- even if they are completely wrong. Again, that's the American way!

People don't need to make up Limbaugh quotes - he says plenty of racist, derogatory things on his own. Feel free to search for them - there are plenty of videos of him on his show saying very ugly things. He needed to step out of the NFL deal, period. Unfortunately for him, his chickens have come home to roost. He can't say the kinds of things he has said about African-Americans, the NFL, and/or African-American NFL players and then expect to be welcomed as an NFL owner.
