Expanding Wait Lists

Claremont McKenna plans to expand wait list for the next class in light of the financial crisis. Anyone want to explain why that is?

The waitlist is a hedge. The school is scared that a greater number of admitted students than usual will turn down CMC for financial reasons, but they are also scared to overadmit, because the budget is stretched too tight to figure out other housing solutions. Hence, putting kids on the waitlist in order to more safely fill the class of 2013.

when you have a question, why not ask someone who can tell you the answer instead of posting it and obnoxiously demanding an answer from some anonymous source?

Thanks, Anonymous.

I've learned a lot about the college by asking questions of people who email me after I write posts. I thought I would cut out the middle step.
