A Series of Questions for Student Government

So let me paste the email.

There's Still Time to Sign Up for IM Bowling!
The Season Now Starts Feb. 27th!
  • Teams Consist of 4 participants
  • Cost is $48/person (Includes Shoes & 3 Games a night for 8 weeks!)
Don't miss out!
Spots are filling up fast!

Now let us try to get this straight.

There are now fewer parties because of the number of alcohol visits we have had on campus. We have cut down on parties across the board.

Shouldn't that mean that there is more money available? Why then does it cost 48 dollars per person? Where's the money we should have spent going? Why isn't it going into reducing the cost of sober activities?

Me thinks ASCMC could use a good audit.

It might have something to do with the fact that the fiscal year for ASCMC ends right before Spring Break. The money may have already been allocated elsewhere.

That might explain it. In any event, they should make their financial statements available to the student body.

I think it has everything to do with the fact that IM Sports (run by Landis Richardson) do not request any money from ASCMC. They get what little funding they have from the CMS athletic department. 24 games of competitive bowling w/ shoes for $2/game is still outstanding.

Also, if you've ever been to IM bowling, you would know that calling it a "sober" activity is laughable.
